With their adaptability and endless filling possibilities, they are perfect for any meal and can be made in advance to reheat and crisp up. Whether you prefer savoury or sweet, these wraps are sure to impress your family and friends.

A Brief History of Yorkshire Puddings
Yorkshire puddings have a fascinating history that goes back to the 18th century. Originally, they were served as a first course to fill up diners before the main meal, often containing pricier meat dishes. The puddings were cooked below the meat, soaking up all the flavorful drippings.
As time went on, Yorkshire puddings became a must-have in British roast dinner accompaniment, particularly with a traditional Sunday roast. Their airy texture and savoury taste make them an excellent complement to hearty meals. Recently, though, a delicious trend has emerged: Yorkshire pudding wraps.
The Rise of Yorkshire Pudding Wraps
The popularity of Yorkshire pudding wraps has soared, especially in UK food markets. These wraps take the classic pudding and turn it into a portable meal, ideal for those on the go. Street vendors and restaurants are now offering various fillings to satisfy diverse tastes.
The Versatility of Yorkshire Pudding Wraps
One of the best parts about Yorkshire pudding wraps is how easy they are to customize. You can whip up a savoury wrap for lunch or dinner and a sweet version for dessert. Here are some tasty ideas to inspire you:
Savoury Fillings
Classic Roast Beef: Fill your wrap with thinly sliced roast beef, a drizzle of rich gravy, and a touch of horseradish sauce for a traditional flavour experience.
Lemon Butter Chicken - Chicken breasts cooked in a lemony, white wine, cream and paprika sauce

Lemon Butter Chicken Yorkshire Pudding Wraps Pulled Pork: Combine tender pulled pork with crunchy coleslaw and sweet barbecue sauce for a delicious twist that packs flavour.
Vegetarian Option: Use roasted vegetables, creamy hummus, and tangy feta cheese for a hearty vegetarian option that’s sure to satisfy.
Sweet Fillings

Caramel Apple Cinnamon Delight: Fill with sautéed caramel apples, a pinch of cinnamon, and a sprinkle of sugar. This warm dessert is perfect for autumn evenings.

Caramel Apple Filled Yorkshire Pudding Wraps Mixed Berry Bliss: Toss together fresh berries with whipped cream for a refreshing and sweet finish to your meal.
The Trick to Perfect Yorkshire Pudding Wraps
Achieving the perfect Yorkshire pudding wraps involves a few essential steps. The key to success is making sure everything is searingly hot. Here’s how to master it:
Preheat the Oven: Begin by heating your oven to 220°C (200°C Fan/Gas 7). This high temperature is vital for giving your wraps their perfect rise. Make sure that oven is hot before you begin.
Heat the Dish: I like to use a 21cm square Pyrex dish, but you could use an ovenproof frying pan. Place it in the oven to get nice and hot.
Add Fat: Once the dish is hot, carefully remove it from the oven and toss in beef dripping, lard or vegetable oil. Carefully put it back in the oven and allow it to melt and get sizzling hot. I also love using duck fat for these wraps, especially using the duck fat remaining from my Duck Confit recipe.
Add the Batter: Carefully remove the dish from the oven and pour your batter into the hot dish, swirling it around to cover the base. This trick prevents sticking.
Bake: Return the dish to the oven and bake for about 5 minutes. Then, carefully turn the wrap over and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
Cool and Crisp: Once the wraps are baked, let them cool slightly before crisping them in a hot griddle pan for about a minute on each side.
Yorkshire Pudding Wrap - The Recipe
Now that you know the secrets, here’s a straightforward recipe to make five delicious Yorkshire pudding wraps.
Ingredients
- 150g/5½oz plain flour
- A pinch of salt
- 4 free-range eggs, beaten
- 250ml/9fl oz milk
- 3 tbsp beef dripping, duck fat, lard or vegetable oil
Instructions
Make the Batter: In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Beat in the eggs until you form a thick mixture. Gradually whisk in the milk until the batter is smooth. Transfer it to a jug, cover, and let it rest for 30 minutes. You can do this the day before and keep in the fridge, the batter may appear a little grey, but after whisking will look normal again.
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 220°C (200°C Fan/Gas 7) and preheat your 23cm ovenproof frying pan. Let that oven get hot!!!
Cook the Wraps: Carefully take the frying pan from the oven, add 2 teaspoon of your chosen fat, and put it back in the oven, let it melt and get sizzling hot. Carefully remove from the oven and pour in a fifth of the batter, swirling it to cover the base. Put it back into the oven to bake for 5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3 minutes. Repeat until you’ve made all five wraps.
Crisp Up the Wraps: Place each wrap in a hot griddle pan for 1 minute on each side to give them a crispy finish.

Fill and Roll: Add your desired fillings down the middle of each wrap and roll them up. Enjoy your delicious Yorkshire pudding wraps!
