Some drinks begin with a bottle. Others begin with something growing in the garden, hiding in the hedgerow or sitting on the kitchen counter looking as though it might become something interesting.

From homemade syrups and seasonal fruit to Somerset cider, garden finds and the occasional bottle of something fizzy, these are drinks inspired by the seasons, the ingredients around me and the simple pleasure of making something a little bit unexpected.

Some are cocktails, some are spritzes, some are alcohol-free and some are simply too good not to share.
